This workshop is custom designed to meet the needs of specific college or university programs and curriculum.

Starting at 2-5 days in length, this program can serve the following functions:

• Provide youth workers with concrete facilitation & counseling skills

• Allow future teachers to explore the principles of experiential learning and how to bring such activities into the classroom environment

• Provide future correctional workers with a clear view of the Project DARE open custody program that uses adventure and wilderness therapy within an evidence based context to initiate positive change in clients.

• Expose social workers/counselors to an alternative therapeutic setting and approach.

WHAT WILL STUDENTS EXPERIENCE?

Depending on the specific needs of each group and the curriculum they are studying, students will engage in team building, communication exercises and other group development strategies. If requested, groups will also experience facilitation training; learn the concepts of motivational interviewing and crisis intervention; and have the opportunity to hone leadership skills. Adventure activities such as our low ropes course, height activities and ACCT certified high ropes course are just some of the tools used in this adventure learning experience. This program is the perfect way to supplement existing post-secondary education programs.
